MAKASSAR CITY
WHEN TO GO
Like the average
temperature of the tropical region, Makassar has relatively the same hot
temperature in every month. Considering humidity, temperatures feel hot all
year with a fair chance of precipitation about half of the year. If you’re
looking for the warmest time to visit the beach for, the months are October,
May, and then November.
Winter (June through August)
The middle-year months
have very comfortable weather with high temperatures that are quite warm. These
months see the least precipitation with 0 to 4 days of precipitation per month.
June – August is the busiest season for tourism in Makassar, so lodging and
other accommodations may cost more than usual. Makassar has approximately 50
islands known as the spermonde archipelago and fantastic spots for snorkeling
and scuba diving and this is the best time to do it.
Spring (September through November)
Spring daily highs range
from 92°F (33.3°C) and 89.8°F (32.1°C), which will feel very nice given the
humidity and wind. It rains or snows a significant amount: 1 to 9 days per
month. Tourism is the slowest during these months due to the weather, so hotels
may be affordably priced.
Summer
(December through February)
Weather is perfect this
time of year in Makassar to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The
average high during this season is between 89.1°F (31.7°C) and 85.8°F (29.9°C).
On average, it rains a very great amount: 15 to 20 times per month. These times
of year are fairly slow with tourists.
Fall (March
through May)
Humidity and temperatures
combine to make this season feel warm. Highs range from 91.2°F (32.9°C) and
87.8°F (31°C) with similar temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat
common with 4 to 11 days of significant precipitation per month. Fall is the
